The current Food Waste Reduction Action Plan (FWRAP) sets outs how the Scottish Government, public sector organisations, business, industries, and consumers can work together to achieve the required 33% reduction in food waste across Scotland.
To contribute to the delivery of the FWRAP, SMG helped Zero Waste Scotland to create the world’s first specific behaviour change strategy to influence/encourage positive food management behaviours that will reduce levels food waste at home.
In developing the strategy, as well as an extensive review of the large volume of existing insight about food waste behaviours and relevant behavioural theory and frameworks, we facilitated a number of stakeholder workshops to help capture and draw on relevant expertise.
The resulting strategy we developed sets out 3 priority areas of focus and an accompanying action plan and roadmap.
